Different time zones support
If you have users that work from different time zones than your organization is, now you can breathe a sigh of relief :) Primetric offers comprehensive time zone support for the employee role and a notification bar for the manager role, so every assignment will be properly scheduled.
One thing that you must remember is that Primetric uses a time zone based on local device settings. It means that if someone from another time zone will log work or create an assignment, it will be created based on the local time zone person that created it.
So, how to deal with it?
Manager role
If you have a manager role and you work in a different time zone than your organization is, we strongly recommend changing the time zone in your device to the organization's time zone. In another case, any assignments that you made will be wrongly scheduled. Also, you will see the wrong data about work logs and assignments created by other managers. It will cause errors in the system and incorrect data for the rest of the managers.
How can I check if my time zone is correct?
If your time zone differs, the Primetric will notify you on the notification bar below.
To change your time zone you need to:
- Go to the Date & Time settings by clicking right mouse button on the time in the right corner of your screen
- Select the "Adjust date/time"
- If you have turned on the "Set time zone automatically" option, you must turn it off.
- Scroll down and find the "Time zone" field
- Select a time zone of your organization
- Refresh the page with Primetric
Employee role
Your device's system time is used when you log time in the Primetric. Remember that assignments in the calendar and today's work in your dashboard are displayed based on your organization's time zone. It's up to you and arrangements with the managers on how you should log your work.
Of course, Primetric will notify you that you are in a different time zone than your organization is on the notification bar.
Choosing the end time of logged work
Moreover, when you want to log time in the system, Primetric will display your and your organization's time and let you choose the end time of logged work. It's up to you, whether you log work based on your or organization's time zone.
Example
Henry from Germany works from 09-10 AM (UTC+2) and records that time in Primetric. Default organization's time zone is UTC -4. Primetric converts it to 07-08 AM (its corresponding UTC value) and stores it in the database. When Emily from New York runs the report, she sees that Henry worked from 03-04 AM (displayed in her UTC-4 time).
