Closing a project in resource management
Closing a project is an essential step in project management. It involves wrapping up all project tasks, checking if the project achieved its goal, and formally disbanding the project team. It also includes finishing up all project documentation. This process's primary goal is to ensure that the project is done as planned and that all commitments are met. Once the project is finished, the people and resources working on the project can be used for other tasks or projects. We also collect and use the lessons and experiences from the project for future projects. Closing the project allows us to ensure that no expected costs or revenues would impact the entire organization's data.
1. How do you change a project’s status? Closing a project
Go to Manager’s Role Account - Go to the Projects Tab - Find a project you want to edit - Click Close button at the top right corner
As the tooltip says, click the Close Button at the right bottom. Later, if it’s necessary, you can activate the project again.
2. How to close a project before the scheduled date?
If you want to close the project and DELETE data AFTER a selected date, then:
1. Select the new date
2. Confirm an action by typing DELETE
3. Choose the data that will be cut and deleted after the selected project end date
In point 2, we described when you want to change the previously planned project completion date to earlier. Setting up a new date isn’t enough, though. The date you initially planned includes the assignments of people to this project, worklogs, project phases, overheads planned, milestones, and potentially planned recruitments if, during the project planning phase, it turned out that it would be necessary to employ additional people. Therefore, at the project's closing stage, we will ask you which data you want to delete after the newly selected project end date. This allows you to maintain the order and reliability of your stored data and better predict your finances.
